hi I’m going to wine country tomorrow and was wondering if anyone knew of any free or cheap hotspots ,must sees or free wine tastings…any insider tips would be appreciated ad well since wine country is so huge we re just looking for relative cheapness and to enjoy the scenary more than going to spas etc…but if something is a must do I’m open to suggestions thanks!!!!

My suggestion would be Cole’s Chop House in Napa. I was just there for my birthday and it was an amazing experience. Good ambience, great food, and very attentive servers. You have to try the Mexican grilled prawns for an appetizer. The seafood bisque comes in a puff pastry bread bowl. And for dessert, I’d die to have their sorbet again. My husband had the steak Oscar and wished he could have had one more. I highly highly recommend Cole’s.

Which Is Better? The Culinary Institute Of America In Napa Valley,ca -or- In Hyde Park, Ny?

I just graduated out of High school (yay me!) and I’m really interested in the Culinary Arts. I’ve been to various schools here in California but none has captivated me as much as the C.I.A. Of coarse, I’ve only been to the campus here in Napa Valley, and will hopefully be going to see the Hyde Park Campus, but i want to know which campus is best, being that i will be potentially staying there for four years. If there’s any kind of information such as: If you’ve been to one campus or the other, if you prefer one and the reason, etc.

I’d say 4 days at the least. Before I moved here I’d stay a week and still didn’t get to see and do everything I wanted. If you do some research and planning on your must-sees, you could squeeze it into 4 days.
I suggest staying in Napa, lodging only gets more expensive upvalley. The Travelodge is downtown and a great starting point for any excursions. And it’s decent and cheap, just remember you won’t be spending a lot of time in your room. Plus, the Visitor’s Center is in the Town Center and they’re very helpful.
